Musa Adebayo ObalolaMember, Governing Council
Dr MusaObalola is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Actuarial Science & Insurance, Faculty of Business Administration, University of Lagos. He is also the Deputy Director, Academic Planning Unit of the University, a post he has occupied since May 2014.
Musa holds a PhD Degree in Insurance Ethics from Leicester Business School, De Montfort University, UK; M. Sc. Degree in Management and B. Sc. Degree in Insurance, both from University of Lagos, a first generation University in Nigeria.
Dr Obalola is a fellow of Chartered Institute of Loan & Risk Management (CILRM), Nigeria; member, Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), London; member, British Academy of Management (BAM), UK; and member, Social Responsibility Research Network (SRRNet), UK.
His research interest broadly covers Health Risk Behaviour, Risk Management, Insurance Industry, Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Ethics, and Organisational Commitment. He has contributed chapters in books, presented conference papers and published in referred journals in these research areas (some of his works have also received Emerald’s Research Award of Excellence, which was in recognition of his contribution to impactful research in these areas). Musa also regularly review for a number of national and international journals in these subject areas.
Within these research areas, He is currently supervising four research (doctoral) students. In 2010, he participated in an Emerald Reference Project, in which he compiled an international reading list on Corporate Governance. He also regularly participated as a resource person for a number of training for industry professionals, notably, College of Insurance and Financial Studies, Nigeria.
Within the University of Lagos, he has served in various committees, notably: Central Research Committee, Conference Planning Committee, Council Committee on Accreditation, Chairman, Faculty of Business Administration ICT, Senate Representative on Council Committee on Budget Monitoring and Implementation, Central Admission Committee, and Chairman, Facultyof Business Administration Examination Committee. He has also served as the Sub-Dean of Faculty of Business Administration and currently, a member of the University Senate.
