Our Short History
The Institute was founded by the approval of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on the 7th of August 2014. Before the final approval, the CAC had initially sought letters of no objection from four government bodies; i.e. The Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Ministry of Justice, Federal Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). With the issuance of these letters by the four government bodies, the CAC issued its own letter of registration dated as above..

To create better awareness regarding the propositions of Islamic finance
Fostering Excellence in Academics
To foster excellence in academics and professional practice in Islamic finance through the promotional and development of professional talent and expert in all spheres of Islamic non-interest financial service industry
Issue Membership Certificate
To issue proficiency/membership certificate or Certificate of Attendance to the participants
Determining Acceptable Knowledge Levels
To determine the acceptable knowledge, skills and experience to attain by persons seeking recognition as Islamic/non-interest finance professionals and experts in Nigeria
Upholding Islamic Finance Law
To do all such other lawful things as may be incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them

Tajudeen Olalekan Yusuf
Acting Chairman, Governing Council
Tajudeen Olalekan Yusuf in his early fifties was born in Lagos but hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State. He bagged his bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Insurance and Management respectively from the University of Lagos.
Jimoh Abdulmumin Babatunde. BSc, MBA, MSc, FCA, FIIF
He is a fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), professional banker of 20years experience, public finance consultant, Islamic Finance experts and a prolific researcher.
Fatai Ola Bakare Esq
Ola Bakare who started his legal career as litigation practitioner at the law firm of ‘akinlawon & ajomo’, is now a banking and finance law expert and an Islamic finance Professional.
Imam Abdullahi Saibu is currently the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of Jaiz Zakat & Waqf Trust Fund, member, Advisory Board of Institute of Classic Entrepreneurship (ICEnt) and a member of the Board of Trustees of Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals.
Musa Adebayo Obalola
Dr Musa Obalola is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Actuarial Science & Insurance, Faculty of Business Administration, University of Lagos. He is also the Deputy Director, Academic Planning Unit of the University, a post he has occupied since May 2014.
Dr. Ganiyat Adejoke Adeshina-Uthman
She is a Financial Economist and Islamic Finance Analyst with PhD (Economics) from University Putra Malaysia, M.Sc. (Finance) from International Islamic University, Malaysia and HND in Banking and Finance (Federal Polytechnic, Ede).
Mr. Sharafa is the pioneer Registrar of the Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant with special interest in Islamic Financing, Governance and Best Practice.
